Definition and Usage
The match() method searches for a specified
value in
a string.
This method is similar to indexOf() and lastIndexOf(), but it returns the specified
value, instead of the position of the string.
This method supports regular expressions. You can learn about the
RegExp object in our JavaScript tutorial.
Syntax
stringObject.match(searchvalue)

Required. Specifies a string value to search for |
Tips and Notes
Note: The match() method is case sensitive!
Note: This method returns null if the string value to search for never
occurs.
Example
In this example we will do different searches within a "Hello world!" string:

var str="Hello world!";
document.write(str.match("world") + "<br />");
document.write(str.match("World") + "<br />");
document.write(str.match("worlld") + "<br />");
document.write(str.match("world!"));
</script>
