Definition

An outline is a line that is drawn around elements, outside the border edge, to make the element "stand out". The outline-color property sets the color of the outlines.

Note: Always declare the outline-style property before the outline-color property. An element must have an outline before you change the color of it.

Note: Outlines do not take up space, and they do not have to be rectangular.

Possible Values

Value Description
invert Default. Performs a color inversion. This is a trick to ensure the border is visible, regardless of color background
color The color value can be a color name (red), a rgb value (rgb(255,0,0)), or a hex number (#ff0000)
